Working principle of starter motor

The ignition switch is turned on to the starting gear, and a small current triggers the attraction/holding coil of the electromagnetic switch. The armature drives the shift fork to push the driving gear out and mesh with the flywheel ring gear.
At the moment of gear meshing, the electromagnetic switch is connected to the main circuit, the high current of the battery is input to the DC motor, and the armature rotates to output torque.
The torque is transmitted to the flywheel through the one-way clutch and driving gear, driving the crankshaft to rotate. The engine reaches the starting speed and ignites for operation.
After the engine starts, if the speed exceeds that of the starter, the one-way clutch will slip to prevent reverse drag; Release the ignition switch, turn off the electromagnetic switch, and return the shift fork to disengage the gears.

What precautions should be taken when starting the engine with a starter motor?

Time limit: Each startup time should not exceed 5 seconds. If the first startup fails, a second attempt should be made at least 15 seconds apart. Continuous starting can cause the starter to overheat, damage the insulation layer of the coil, and even burn out the motor.
