What precautions should be taken when starting the engine with a starter motor?
Avoid prolonged continuous startup
Time limit: Each startup time should not exceed 5 seconds. If the first startup fails, a second attempt should be made at least 15 seconds apart. Continuous starting can cause the starter to overheat, damage the insulation layer of the coil, and even burn out the motor.
Reason: The starter motor can have a current of several hundred amperes when starting, and prolonged operation can cause high temperatures due to excessive current, accelerating component wear.
Ensure the ignition switch is operated correctly
When starting, the ignition switch should be turned to the "START" position, and immediately released after starting to avoid staying in the starting gear for a long time and prevent the electromagnetic switch from continuously engaging, causing the starter to idle or be damaged.
Check the gear position (manual transmission model)
Before starting, it is necessary to confirm that the gear is in neutral (N gear) or parking gear (P gear) to prevent the vehicle from accidentally moving and causing danger.
